Phoebe De Oliveira Simões

  • Phoebe, is a Newly Qualified Solicitor based in London and the founder of The Scoop. She leads the blog’s IP series – Trademark Thursday and Technology Tuesday, sharing insights on recent cases and developments in the IP and Tech world.
  • Phoebe also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property from Bournemouth University, where she graduated with distinction.
  • Outside of work, Phoebe enjoys travelling and spending time with her two dogs, Charlie and Bertie — who often keep her company (and occasionally supervise) while she’s editing articles for The Scoop. 🐾✍️

Katie Wu

  • Katie Wu is a Treasury Paralegal at Nationwide Building Society based in London, with a strong interest in financial services and commercial law.
  • Katie also holds a Law degree from the University of Nottingham and completed the LPC MSc at the University of Law. At The Scoop, Katie contributes to the Finance Friday series, exploring developments at the intersection of law and finance.
  • Outside of work, Katie enjoys discovering new food spots across London and practising yoga, making the most of the city’s vibrant food and wellness scene. 🍜🧘‍♀️

Editors:

Nicholas Gillyon

  • Nicholas is a Research Assistant at UCL’s Institute of Brand and Innovation Law in London. Nicholas is focused on IP Law, both in the UK and abroad, with a particular focus on Patent Law. Nicholas hopes to pursue a career at the IP Bar.
  • Nicholas is a scholar of The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, having been awarded a Diplock Scholarship and a Blackstone’s Entrance Exhibition to complete the Bar Course at City St George’s, University of London. Nicholas graduated with distinction from UCL Faculty of Laws in September 2025. He was the recipient of the 8 New Square LLM Prize for Top Performance in Patent Law, having achieved the highest grade in the ‘Law of Patents’ LLM module.
  • Before studying at UCL, Nicholas was awarded a distinction grade for the Graduate Diploma in Law at City, University of London and obtained an MA (Hons) in Classics at The University of Edinburgh.
  • When he gets the chance, Nicholas likes to keep active by playing rugby and football and he attempts to maintain a connection with his Classical background by reading about Roman History.

Olivia Omotajo-Jensen

  • Olivia Omotajo-Jensen is a Market Researcher at Askew International Research Limited and based between London, Lagos and Copenhagen, with a strong interest in shipping and contracts. She holds an English degree from the University of Oxford and completed the GDL at the BPP University. 
  • At The Scoop, Olivia contributes to the Maritime Monday series, exploring developments at the intersection of law, finance and the high seas.
  • Outside of work, Olivia enjoys vintage shopping, writing and knitting. 🛍️🧶
